LATEST NEWS
🇪🇸Podcasting trends in Spain
To celebrate International Podcast Day, Acast presented the Podcast Pulse 2026, which it previewed during Podcast Movement. Spain is included among the 13 global markets, in which more than 4 thousand monthly consumers aged 13 to 64 were surveyed. This is what it found on the subject of advertising, compared to the other markets:
90% of Spanish consumers took action thanks to an ad, compared to 81% globally
70% searched online for something the host mentioned vs. 64% globally
64% visited a brand's website, compared to 58%
In terms of consumption, 75% say they pay a lot or quite a lot of attention to audio podcasts, while 73% do so for video podcasts.
🤔 Is podcasting reaching its fourth stage?
And speaking of Spain, journalist Laura Martinez Otón asks on her blog whether podcasting in Spain is entering a new stage. According to Laura, 2004-2015 was the stage of amateurs and indies, 2016-2020 that of the big production companies, and 2021-2025 that of the expansion of the platforms. The fourth stage, according to Laura, is that of openness. Producing is more accessible and people discover through apps but also social media. Laura cites IAB Spain's 2026 Digital Audio Study, which found that 2 out of 3 digital audio users consume video podcasts, 81% of young people prefer video, and YouTube and Spotify are the favorite apps for consuming digital audio.
Of interest: If we look closely, these stages can also be identified in large podcasting markets like the United States and Mexico. Do you agree with the fourth stage?
🇦🇷 Audio consumption report in Argentina
The Ibope Audio Pulse 2026 report, which gathers audio consumption data in Argentina, presented data on how podcasts are being consumed in that country. According to the report:
87% of Argentines listened to some audio format in the last month
Among radio listeners, 29% also listened to podcasts
61% listen at least once a week
Why it matters: Although it doesn't exactly measure podcasting use in Argentina, this report is a good look at how digital audio is consumed and podcasting's position alongside radio, streaming and music.
🇨🇱 The insurance market in Chile looks to podcasts
According to an article on latinoinsurance.com, Chilean insurers are adopting podcasts to communicate with their audiences. The strategy ranges from explaining risks and trends to telling personal stories to emphasize the importance of coverage. This reflects a change in the way these companies communicate and build relationships with clients.

TIPS, TRICKS AND STRATEGIES
▶️ Create ads that work for audio and video
Writing for Captivate’s website, Matthew McLean shares a way to make sure the ads we create for our podcasts work in audio and also video. According to him, the trick is AUDIBLE:
A- Audio first: Write the ad so it works with your eyes closed and leave the video as an extra
U- Urge with a question: Open with a specific question that makes your listener say “this is for me”
D- Describe what's on screen: If it's something visual like a before and after, tell it in words for those who only listen
I - Idea, singular: Focus on one problem and one solution, anything extra dilutes the message
B - Break down the URLs: Read the URL so no one can type it wrong
L- Lead with the CTA: Your call to action should be simple, clear and you should repeat it
E- Explain the legal part out loud: Conditions or restrictions must be read out loud and not hidden in on-screen text

🔠 Two tools for transcriptions and translations
Podcaststotext is a new app that lets you transcribe an episode under 30 minutes in its free version. For $14 a month it gives you 5 hours and generates podcast transcripts, episode notes and even translates. I gave it one of our shorter episodes and this is what the editor looks like:

Podcaststotext
Meanwhile, Polyglot creates translated subtitles in up to 25 languages for your video podcast. You upload the final video and the app generates a translated SRT file locally on your Mac.
